DONNELLY AND AYRES-BARBER ACHIEVE FIVE MILLION-DOLLAR MED-MAL DEFENSE VERDICTS

For the fifth consecutive year,Virginia Medical Law Reports presented a compendium of "Million-Dollar Medical Malpractice Defense Verdicts" taken from significant damage cases reported to Virginia Lawyers Weekly's "Verdicts and Settlements" in 2008. Of the sixteen cases included in the report, Goodman Allen & Filetti lawyers, Robert F. Donnelly and Robyn Ayres Barber obtained FIVE, representing the largest combined number of $1,000,000 plus Med Mal Defense Verdicts per law firm in Virginia in 2008.

Their cases include:

Wrongul Death/Survival Action (MRSA)- $2 MIL

Failure to diagnose and treat necrotizing pancreatitis- $1.75 MIL

Wrongful Death/Alleged failure to diagnose renal cancer-$5 MIL

Wrongful Death/Failure to treat iron deficiancy anemia prior to surgery-$3 MIL

Survival Action/negligent administration of anesthesia-$3 MIL
